Els desnonaments i les repercussions sobre la salut: el sentiment de comunitat en un GAM

Abstract:
Eviction has become a real problem in our society, being Catalonia the most affected autonomous community in Spain. Faced with this social problem, the political measures implemented have not given an effective response. The institutional helplessness has resulted in the emergence of social movements as the “Plataforma de Afectados por la Hipoteca (PAH)”. The main objective of this work is to demonstrate the effectiveness of the PAH as a mutual help-group and to evaluate the health benefits of its members. It carries out a qualitative study through the Participant Observation (PO) of the meetings and assemblies carried out by the PAH of Tarragona. For the realization of the study, firstly, we have made a bibliographic review and, secondly, we have completed the achievement of the objectives through a field observation. Our findings demonstrate the effectiveness of the PAH for the visibility of this social problem and the empowerment of its members, providing them with the necessary tools to manage their situation. Therefore, we conclude that the PAH works as a mutual help-group and generates benefits in the health of its members.
