Abstract:
Taking into account that children and adolescents spend a large part of their time at school, it is common that they can be found in situations where the implementation of first aid techniques is vital. For this reason, adequate training is needed for teachers, a training which gives them the ability to respond appropriately allows them to act adequately in front of an accident or an emergency and to avoid worsening the state of health of the students. Our general objectives are to design a proposal for intervention on the primary assessment and first aid aimed at primary school teachers in order to find out if this improves their knowledge to identify and to resolve emergency situations where the health status of the child is compromised. An almost experimental pre-test and post-test study is carried out in a single group of 41 teachers. A collection of data is made in relation to the knowledge in primary valuation and first aid before and after the educational intervention. The data collection tool was a self-elaboration questionnaire with 21 questions. The intervention consisted of two theoretical and practical workshops taught in two different sessions. In order to carry out the analysis of the data, the T-Student test was used for unmatched parametric samples. Moreover, to compare the changes produced between the pre-test and post-test responses the McNemar test was used. In the results obtained, it is observed that the average number of hits has increased from 12.88 in the pre-intervention questionnaire to 16.02 in the post-intervention, with a maximum score of 21. Likewise, in 10 of the 21 questions in the survey the results have been statistically significant. The statistical results of the whole educational intervention indicate a favorable intervention (p <0.05). This significant increase in the average of correct answers reflects the acquired knowledge of teachers, confirming that the educational intervention has been effective.
