Abstract:
Introduction: Nursing professionals are responsible for patient care, and those who are most in contact with them, that leads to the creation of a therapeutic relationship that allows to offer individualized quality care. With the existence of the Conspiracy of Silence a blockage is generated in this relationship because of what is affected, that is why in our work we wanted to reflect the experiences that nurses think in relation to this event. Objectives: The objectives of our work, among others, are: To know experiences of nursing professionals about the Silent Conspiracy; To investigate what the Silence Conspiracy; Consists of Analyzing the role of the nurse in the Silence Conspiracy and the consequences it could trigger at the professional level. Methodology: This is a qualitative phenomenological study with a retrospective chronology. Individual semi-structured interviews have been conducted, with questions open to four nursing professionals in the areas of surgery and traumatology, emergencies and palliative care. Results: Three categories were obtained that were subdivided into the following subcategories: Nurse Vision, Silence Conspiracy Triggers, Patient Violation and Family Affectation, Feelings Generated by the Conspiracy of Silence, Consequences in the Nurse Role, and Tools and Protocols. Conclusions: Most nurses share the fact that they have to avoid the CS, which is produced by a wide range of reasons among those of relatives, professionals and the patient himself, that the latter with the CS suffers a violation of their rights as a person and directly affects nursing work, further creating negative feelings in nurses, which refer to not having knowledge of the existence of CS-related protocols or guidelines, but of the use of communication skills for its approach.
