Página 1Abstract:“Effects of music on people with mechanical ventilation admitted to Intensive Care Units” Bibliographic review”.Introduction: Mechanical ventilation -VM-is a ventilatory therapy widely used in intensive care units -ICU-in critical patients that most often causes them stress and anxiety. Music therapy is a complementary therapy that can be used as a nursing intervention to decrease these levels and thus produce greater relaxation and well-being of the patient.Objective: To differentiate between music as a therapeutic intervention and music therapy and thus know the effectiveness of the use of this technique in the Intensive Care Units in patients with mechanical ventilation.Method:Bibliographic review of the published literature on stress and anxiety in patients admittedto the Intensive Care Unit -ICU-and who are carriers of VM. Documents sought in different electronic databases: PubMed, CINAHL, Cochrane Library and GoogleScholar.Included articles published in the last five years (2015-2020), with a theme related to the keywords searched in Spanish, Catalan, Englishand Portuguese. Made for people over the age of 18 who were admitted to the ICU with ventilatory support or mechanical ventilation -VM-.Results:Finally, a total of 11 articles were used for analysis from the different databases. These deal with the benefits of music therapy on different physiological parameters, anxiety, stress, pain and sedatioConclusionsThe use of music therapy is a very economical tool that means great benefits for the patient, including the reduction of the stay in the ICU due to the reduction of anxiety and stress -also the different physiological parameters and the better adaptation of the patient to VM, among others-, adverse effects, hospital economic costs,Keywords: Music therapy, mechanical ventilation, intensive care unit.
