RAFT Polymerization study of thermo-responsive polymers

Abstract:
In this study has been carried out the synthesis of some transfer chain agents to lead a polymerization of polymers with thermo‐responsive behaviour. The polymerization has been done by reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer method, one of the most tolerant of the living radical polymerization. The first results were not good because of the chain transfer agents, which were not the proper ones for the used monomer (methacrylate). Finally some good results were obtained since the synthetized polymers had a thermo‐responsive behaviour, close to the properties that this kind of material has to have. The aim of the synthesis of this polymers is to be able to apply them in the biomedicine field.
