Revaluation of peri-urban agricultural spaces. Roquís Agricultural Training and Work Centre

Abstract:
Based on the study of water management, and peri-urban agricultural spaces, understanding both branches as complementary in order to revalue them, an action strategy is proposed for the Roquís sector in Reus, a forgotten interstitial space. As objectives set to revalue the sector, the reorganization of the planning established by the administration, the regeneration and reuse of rainwater from urban runoff, and the activation of abandoned pre-existing elements are proposed. The reorganization includes the development of the Roquís Agricultural Park, which houses a water purification area, and an Agricultural Training and Work Centre, which is developed in rehabilitated agricultural warehouses. This centre is crucial to facilitate the accession of new young agricultural assets, a necessary action to ensure the future of peri-urban agricultural spaces. The park is considered as a quality public space, with the aim of promoting the relationship of citizens with the agricultural world.
