    Abstract:
Nowadays it is pretty common hearing feminism references in socio-political debates both in the professional or academic fields, and even in informal talks with mates. The constant claims of the movement have contributed to a social mentality change that has generated an increase of wondering about the role that men should assume, and also the relevance of terms such as hegemonic masculinities, or new masculinities. This article addresses a general analysis about social, activist and political perception from a masculine population point of view about gender equality, starting with a brief summary of the history of the feminist movement and its theoretical contributions. By the use of some qualitative researching methods it has become clear that, even with a widespread and increasing point of view about male’s role in gender equality claims, it continues to be confusing and inaccurate.
