    Abstract:
Schizophrenia is a severe mental illness (SMI), one of the most difficult and complex, affecting more than 21 million people worldwide. Suffering from this pathology and becoming pregnant can lead to some obstetric and neonatal complications such as high-risk sexual behavior, few protective measures, or unwanted pregnancies, creating a state of vulnerability for the fetus and generating crises in the mother's pathology. Objective: To study the nurse's approach to pregnancies in women with schizophrenia, identifying the quality of care and outcomes in order to define comprehensive health care. Methodology: The design of the study is framed in a systematic review of scientific articles through a process of gathering scientific evidence from the main databases, following the phased process of the PRISMA statement. To determine the methodological quality criteria, the instruments of the "Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI)" were applied. Results: From the articles used for the study, the quality of care in pregnant women with schizophrenia was deficient due to lack of knowledge, skills and nursing preparation. Most do not use contraceptive methods, as a consequence the rates of unwanted pregnancy and abortion were high. Stigma and negative attitudes do not help in providing adequate counseling and care, about the high rate of obstetric and neonatal complications they may present. Conclusion: Nurses and midwives accept that their role is to assess women's mental health status, but many feel ill-equipped to do so and express a strong desire for more knowledge and skills in various perinatal mental health issues. They accept that negative stereotypes exist; therefore, it is difficult to deny their influence on care for these women. Keywords: Pregnancy, Maternity, Schizophrenia, Nursing Care, Humanization
