    Diabeticmacularedemaisadiseasecausedbydiabeticretinopathy.Itrepresentsthemaincauseofvisualimpairmentinpeoplesufferingfromdiabetesmellitus.Itoccursduetoaseriesofmicrovascularchangesindiabetesthatleadtoavesselincompetenceandisassociatedwithblood-retinal-barrierdysfunctionandtheconsequentaccumulationofextracellularfluidwithinthecentralretina.C-reactiveproteinisanacutephasereactantthatisincreasedinpatientswithdiabeticretinopathy.Thus,wesoughttoinvestigatewhetherthedifferentformsofCRPcouldaffecttotheintegrityoftheinnerBRBconsequentlycontributingtothedevelopmentofDME.
