    Abstract:
The brain is a lipid-rich organ which requires several lipid molecules for brain development and signal transduction. Lipid content and distribution is highly dependent on the apolipoprotein E (ApoE) activity and its polymorphisms. The different ApoE isoforms confer distinguishable vulnerabilities to pesticides exposure, such as chlorpyrifos, which acts by inhibiting the acetylcholinesterase enzyme. The present work demonstrates clear differences in the brain lipid profile during neurodevelopmental stages provided by the APOE genotype contribution. General treatment effects and genotype x treatment interactions were observed in a lesser extent. Overall, these results suggest a cognitive advantage depending on the APOE genotype during early stages of life.
