Study of Fn14 expression in semen cellular residue of prostate cancer patients

    Abstract:
    Objective: To evaluate the ability to differentiate aggressive from indolent PCa using Fn14 gene mRNA expression obtained from the semen cell sediment of PCa patients (N=48) and 19 healthy control patients. Results: Serum PSA levels and Fn14 mRNA levels in seminal cell sediment were significantly higher in high-risk patients than in low-risk patients. ROC curve and logistic regression analysis showed that the biomarker panel composed of PSA and Fn14/TGM4 allowed distinguishing the aggressiveness of PCa. Conclusions: The non-invasive biomarker panel composed of serum PSA levels and Fn14/TGM4 mRNA levels in seminal cell sediment could be used to PCa aggressiveness prognose.
