Economic valuation of unpaid domestic work carried out by women in Catalonia and representation in GDP

Abstract:
The main objective of this work is to give value to the unpaid household work performed by women in Catalonia through the implementation of wages and the calculation of its representation in the GDP. To achieve this goal, we have collected data through extensive research on household activities and the amount of time spent on domestic work performed by women and have proposed a remuneration that is as realistic as possible. We have also carried out a methodology to calculate the inclusion in the GDP of unpaid domestic work.
