Design and characterization of transmission and reception systems for teaching applications AUTOR: Daniel Maestro Redondo DIRECTOR: David Girbau Sala E-mail: daniel.maestro@estudiants.urv.cat Abstract: the aim of this project is the design and characterization of a radiofrequency communications system for use in educational applications. It starts from the design and optimization of a patch antenna, two directional couplers and two bandpass coupled line filters, as well as the integration of an amplifier and radiofrequency mixer chips. All of them are based on microstrip technology and forming a superheterodyne topology that works in the ISM band at 2.45 GHz. Later, the manufacture of the components is accomplished for the study of the most significant features, in addition to the measurement of different characteristic parameters of the radiofrequency telecommunications environment such as the noise factor, harmonic and intermodulation distortion. Finally two laboratory practices are proposed for the subject of high-frequency systems based on the use of the manufactured circuits to replicate the measurements which were accomplished in the project in order to consolidate knowledge and make familiar to students its practical applications.
