    Abstract:
Taste receptors are widely used for the detection of harmful substances and can be located in other tissues such as the gastrointestinal system. Studies have shown the possible association between obesity and a reduction in genes related to taste, which can affect food preference and energy intake. Therefore, obesity could modify the expression and sensitivity of TAS2Rs in the gastrointestinal tract. This study seeks to characterize the expression of TAS2Rs in jejunal samples from women with morbid obesity not associated with metabolic syndrome and to determine its utility as a target to improve their health status.
