Abstract:
Abstract The last decades are characterized by major changes in the economies of the EU countries. These changes are having a serious effect on the labor market. Without the right skills for the job market, people will be at risk of exclusion. OECD raises lines and recommendations to member countries so that they improve their economic development. The main objective is to work on skills within education systems to develop updated curricula and create appropriate educational and Professional Training systems to these demands. Competencies is an area that is becoming more and more important in the educational system. The purpose of this research is to describe which skills young people need to enter the labor market. The achievement of personal competences that students in Vocational Training and whether they are acquired through the training schools is analyzed. From here, it is analyzed whether students have the perception of being prepared for insertion into the working world and what they value most: training or personal skills to enter the labor market. The methodology was qualitative: by reviewing literature and official documents and personal communication instruments (interviews) and quantitative: through questionnaires. The sample size was four participants, professionals from the educational and business worlds. The object of the research were students in two Professional Training secondary schools from Tarragona. The results have allowed to interpret the personal skills teaching requires the creation of a specific area and that it should be included in the curriculum. Personal skills need support discipline that allows reflection and theoretical study and systematic learning in all areas.
