    Abstract:
The exponential population growth and climate crises demand sustainable food production methods. The UN aims for change by 2050. In this context the FAO focuses on eco-friendly aquaculture through blue transformation. Alternative protein sources like algae, insects or industrial by-products are being studied to reduce the inclusion of fish meal and fish oil in feeds. In Spain, by-products from breweries, such as brewer's spent grain (BSG) and yeast (BSY), are potential fish feed alternatives. Studies found that sea bream can incorporate 30% of BSG and 15% of BSG and rainbow trout 20% of BSY and 15% of BSG without growth issues, reducing CO2 emissions and promoting sustainability.
