Prediction and characterization of microrna-like rnas in fungal and fungal-like pathogens

    Abstract:
    This project analyzes small RNA sequencing data from plant pathogens, including two fungal species (Botrytis cinerea and Fusarium oxysporum) and two oomycete species (Phytophthora infestans and Phytophthora parasitica). Using bioinformatics methods, microRNA-like RNAs (milRNAs) were identified and characterized in these species, predicting their secondary structures and potential gene targets. The goal is to enhance the understanding of the role of milRNAs in fungal and oomycete pathogenesis, with the potential to develop new biomarkers and therapies for diseases caused by these pathogens.
