    Abstract:
This bachelor’s thesis aims to enhance the process of color retention in paper manufacturing and investigate improvements in process water quality during color production. The research is conducted in collaboration with Gomà-Camps, a leading tissue paper manufacturing company, and focuses on improving the fixation of black colorant. When color consistency is not met, it leads to significant expenses and waste issues. Different laboratory experiments were performed to analyze the influence of chemicals and vary the amount and proportion of fixers. Results indicate that ionic demand is a critical parameter, revealing that cationic water negatively affects fixation. Different amounts of fixer were tested in both pulper and machine sections, achieving optimal results under specific conditions. The industrial-scale test has finally confirmed the effectiveness of the chosen fixer formulation.
