Abstract:
Transsexualism is the condition for which a person's gender identity does not match their biological sex or assignment.1 Transgender children express their gender identity from ages very early, over the two years. We carry various forms and with different needs, unless there is a unique trajectory applicable to all of them.2 In the future some children require a simple social adaptation, other treatment that allows them to adapt their physical gender sense as their own, and eventually manifest some serious opposition to his genitals or gender dysphoria and need comprehensive health care (hormone treatment, surgery and psychotherapy or counseling related to support their gender reassignment), all in order to enable better social integration and prevent the stigmatization of the person in social, occupational or legal. Currently, the role of nursing is hardly visible in relation to transgender children. But it is absolutely necessary to their role to help and support the overall development of these children. Whether accompanying them in the process of social transition, supporting their families, show the resources and existing associations, etc. That is why we need to know in depth all aspects in order to strengthen and improve our skills to provide quality care to transsexual children and their families.
