Quality of life and bariatric surgery: systematic review

    Abstract:
    The obesity is a chronic, complex and multifactorial disease, it is associated with an increase of mortality. When the morbid obesity can’t be solved with a single dietetic therapy, it is the moment to think about the bariatric surgery. The Sleeve Gastrectomy (SG) and the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (BPGJ) are the more usual interventions. The weight loss after the intervention is associated with a functional health improvement and an improvement of the wellbeing as it is its principal cause. The quality of life is the wellbeing over different domains: physical, mental, social, labour and emotional wellbeing. If we want to evaluate it, we will need different tests: Bariatric Analysis and Reporting Outcome System (B.A.R.O.S.), Moorehead-Ardelet Quality of Life II Questionnaire (M-A-QoLQ II) and the Short form test (SF- 36).
