    Abstract:
This thesis analyses how financial education influences the saving and investment habits of the adult population living in the province of Tarragona. Using a structured questionnaire, data were collected on the level of knowledge, attitudes and financial practices of the sample, with the aim of identifying patterns and detecting possible areas for improvement in financial education. The result show that, although an overall positive average score was obtained, there are still important shortcomings that should be addressed. It has also been shown that various sociodemographic variables have a significant influence on the degree of financial competencies. With regard to saving and investment habits, a direct correlation with the level of financial knowledge was confirmed. Those with a higher level of financial literacy adopt more proactive, structured and informed behaviors, both in saving management and investment decision making. In contrast, lower levels of knowledge are associated with inaction, improvisation or an excessively conservative attitude.
