    Identifier:  TFG:9004
    Authors:  Piqueres Ortega, Vallivana
    Abstract:
Roux-en-Y bariatric surgery (RYGB) is effective in treating morbid obesity, promoting weight loss and metabolic and molecular changes. This study analyzes the effects one year after the intervention, focusing on clinical, metabolic, hormonal aspects, oxidative stress and mitochondrial function. The results show an improvement in glycemic and lipid parameters, reduction of inflammation and oxidative damage (mtROS, AGEs, DNA/RNA damage), as well as an improvement in mitochondrial respiratory function. In conclusion, RYGB promotes metabolic and endocrine reprogramming with important systemic benefits.
