Abstract:
ABSTRACT: Objective: Learn to do literature review and which are the nursing care for the prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia in UCI. Material and Methods: A bibliographical research about relevant revisions and studies, in total 21, has been carried out, in English, Spanish and also Portuguese. These articles, which were used, have been published between 2009 and 2015. Results: Preventive measures with a high level of evidence are: education and training in handling of the airway, hand hygiene, oral hygiene, control and maintenance cuff pressure, patient position between 30-45°, promote procedures that reduce intubation and/or its duration, secretion suction, avoid scheduled changes tubing, humidifiers and tracheal tubes, decontamination of the digestive tract and the use of systemic antibiotics during intubation in patients with decreased level of consciousness. Conclusions: There is a huge importance in terms of the correct practice by nurses, for the prevention of VAP, to their continuing training in nursing care in critically patients with risk of this nosocomial infection and its subsequent evaluation commissioning of implementation of all these measures used.
