Design and development of a modular programmable logic controller: an iot solution for industry 4.0

    Abstract:
    This Final Degree Project has as its objective the design and development of a modular programmable logic controller (PLC), oriented to Industry 4.0 standards. The project arises from the need to create technological solutions that are highly adaptable, scalable and capable of being integrated into modern industrial environments, where efficiency, interoperability and connectivity are essential. The methodology used includes the design and implementation of a modular and scalable architecture, taking advantage of modern technologies such as Docker for the deployment of services, MariaDB for the centralized management of real-time data and communication protocols such as MQTT and Modbus TCP/IP. Finally, the results obtained show that the system meets all the defined functional and non-functional requirements, achieving the development of a prototype with a robust and reliable operation.
