Title in different languages: Effects of aging and diet on intestinal TAS2R gene expression
Abstract: Bitter taste receptors (TAS2R) protect organisms from the uptake of toxic substances and allows an efficient digestion and absorption, improving metabolic parameters. This study aims to identify the effect of aging, cafeteria diet and a synchronous treatment of GSPE on the intestinal expression of two TAS2R. Five-day oral dose of GSPE was administered every month to 21-month-old Wistar rats or water as a vehicle meanwhile they were fed with a cafeteria or standard diet. Aged rats showed a lower expression of both TAS2Rs. GSPE treatment reversed the effect of the cafeteria diet in jejunum. In conclusion, aging reduces TAS2R’s expression
