Abstract:
This work is based on the compilation and analysis of the different current and developing detection methods for recombinant erythropoietin (rEPO). Current methods, despite having been improved and optimized in recent years, continue to be expensive and laborious, making it difficult to carry out exhaustive monitoring of athletes throughout the year. The speed and low cost of alternative methods are a potential option as an initial sampling test, despite the lower sensitivity observed. Indirect methods based on monitoring blood parameters would prove to be ideal. However, they need improvements and new biomarkers.
