  • Identification data

    Identifier:  TFM:1671
    Authors:  Egea Jiménez, Clara
    Abstract:
Intermittent fasting (IF) is a type of novel diet with different benefits on people's health. Through weight loss and improvements in lipid profile, it has been linked to benefits on cardiovascular diseases. AI has been associated with greater weight loss in the short term compared to that achieved with low-calorie diets; however, in the long term the effect is similar. Regarding lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, blood pressure and inflammation, the results are not conclusive, due to the great heterogeneity of the studies. More studies are definitely required.
