    Abstract:
Prenatal exposure to adversity can affect organs and tissues, increasing the risk of metabolic, endocrine and cardiovascular disorders later in life. Maternal nutrition and health influence this, known as fetal programming. In addition, cocoa is linked to better glycemic control, cardiovascular health and weight. This study is the impact of a diet rich in fiber and flavonoids in pregnant Wistar rats in relation to the phenotype and antioxidant activity of macrophages in their offspring, as well as the effect of diets with Peruvian cacao in adult rats. Results: maternal diet did not affect offspring macrophages; cacao increased fecal acidity, without changes in weight or glucose tolerance. Investigation in progress.
