Abstract: Sleep apnea is a disease characterized by recurrent episodes of obstruction of the upper respiratory tract and produces intermittent hypoxia, hypercapnia, increased respiratory stress, all making sleep difficult. All these effects lead to a state of inflammation, hypercoagulability, oxidative stress, etc. This has a negative impact on the quality of life of patients and is related to several cardiovascular, metabolic and cognitive consequences. Currently, its prevalence is around 24-26% in men and 17-28% in women. The treatment for sleep apnea that has been shown to be effective is positive airway pressure (CPAP). It is a chronic treatment whose function is to administer air with positive pressure through a mask to prevent obstruction of the airway. Currently, the assessment of the adherence of patients to the treatment of CPAP in the units of the dream is a function performed by nursing with control and follow-up visits, in addition, currently study is also applied to telemedicine, which consists in the application From technology to medicine, and it can be useful for tracking the patient. Assessing the incidence of sleep apnea on the population, the study would be aimed at comparing whether patients who use telemedicine continue to adhere to the treatment with those who make visits the first, third and sixth months after the start of CPAP with nursing. From this objective, the specific objectives would be to analyze the causes that patients do not adhere correctly to the treatment and if they know how to use CPAP correctly and effectively, as well as those who use the technology properly. It would be a descriptive cross-sectional study.
