    Abstract:
The protected natural spaces are increasingly more frequented. Its democratization, public use or greater awareness and interest in nature tourism help to understand this increase in flows. At the same time, the growth of inflows in these spaces highlights the need to know the carrying capacity thresholds in order to preserve and conserve the values. Given that the Parc Natural de la Serra del Montsant has been adhered to the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism and that it has submitted its candidature to be declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO, which may lead to an increase in its attractiveness and flows, this space has been adopted as the subject to conduct a load capacity study. Based on the literary review and the analysis of similar studies carried out, a methodological proposal for the measurement of load thresholds has been elaborated, without omitting aspects such as the reception capacity or the frequency of the area. In addition, the methodological proposal is characterized by a certain generalist character with the will that it might be implemented in other similar territories.
