    Abstract:
The landscape today is a comprehensive and multidisciplinary concept that is inserted in several studies. In this case, a landscape analysis is done from its visual focus on the Peninsula of Paria (Venezuela), which features pristine natural areas, important tropical coastal marine ecosystems, native forest and three protected areas that cover 45% of its surface. These spaces are threatened with the development of a gas Industrial Complex in the vicinity, so the objective of this research is to assess the current and prospective visual quality on the peninsula as well as contrasting both scenarios to determine the impact of this complex in the landscape. This was based on the integration of multi-criteria evaluation techniques (MET) with the Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS) in a model of visual quality, the results for both scenarios raised 5 major categories from very low to very high visual quality. The results raise interesting conclusions both on the impact of the industrial complex in the Paria Peninsula and the application of quality methodologies landscape in tropical areas.
