Abstract: This proyect entitled "Energy security and its influence on environmental policies" aims to analyze the concept of energy security located within the context of energy policy and questioning arises as to whether the energy security is guaranteed in European Union and Peru. In particular, it is to give an overview on the evolution of the regulations or policies of the European Union to address the problem of supply, how energy policies are linked to environmental policies and in turn perform analysis of the way in which Peru has taken into account the security of supply for its energy policy approach. This paper is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, an analysis of the background that gave rise to the concept of security and the concept itself, the current outlook, the various risk factors that presents energy security and features that must be done to achieve energy sustainable development. The second chapter is focused on the development of energy policies of the European Union, the dimensions of the politics of energy security, its purposes and differences, as well as actions that can be undertaken in each of them and the role of the environment in energy policy; so that an appreciation of what the linkage with energy policies have. The third chapter is oriented energy policies in Peru, the energy outlook in Peru, the inclusion of the environmental factor in energy policies in Peru and an assessment of the current National Energy Policy in order to know Peru and to an assessment of the need for a policy for sustainable energy development.
