    Abstract:
Iron deficiency is one of the most prevalent nutritional problem in the world . Between 500 and 1,000 million people suffer from this deficit, which represents 15 to 20 % of the world population. The prevalence of anemia of nutritional origin estimated by DeMaeyer and Aldiels - Tegman between 25 and 50% in developing countries and between 2 and 28 % in developed countries. The prevalence of iron deficiency is high in some age groups of developed countries , despite the existing good food availability. The objetico of this work was to conduct a review of studies conducted in the Spanish population on the prevalence of iron deficiency in its various stages in order to know the extent of the problem in our country.
