Abstract:
This project, generally, is about the employment of disabled people. From the business point of view, there is a law in force which stipulates that at least 2% of the staff, as long as there are more than 50 employees, this percentage should be occupied by disabled workers. According to several authors, this group tends to occupy underpaid and unproductive jobs as well as being low prestige. Also, the authors mention few obstacles that exist between these people and work activity, and because of these limitations they have developed programs and created foundations in order to help to remove these impediments. For example, the Government of Catalonia is an organization that tries to improve the integration of disabled people, not only current programs but also with hiring disabled people in their institutions. On the other hand, if we talk about foundations such as ONCE, and more specifically the interview with the technician, we see that there are people who are in charge if trying that disabled people acquire the skills and abilities needed for activities to develop properly in the workplace. Therefore, it is possible to raise awareness among employers of the abilities which these people can acquire despite being disabled, as well as increasing the employment. But the tables of INE show that in 2014 there was more unemployment than in 2010 and in 2010 disabled people had more jobs than in 2014, which represents a small difference between these results and the statements of the technician, as he said that nowadays disabled people had more jobs than years ago. Therefore, we say that we are still in the process of inserting disabled people in the labour market, as the authors and the technician stipulate and we can see it in the tables.
