Abstract: Introducción: El Síndrome de Burnout (SB), es una respuesta a una situación de estrés laboral crónico, prolongado en el tiempo, que representa un problema de salud debido a las consecuencias sobre la integridad física y emocional de los trabajadores, deteriorando de esta manera también el ambiente de trabajo. El personal de enfermería es un grupo vulnerable de sufrir este síndrome por su contacto directo con situaciones difíciles de atención al dolor, la muerte o situaciones terminales. Objetivo general: Aproximarse a la realidad del «SB» en el contexto profesional de la enfermería española. Metodología: Se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica sistemática en las bases de datos CINAHL, Cuiden, Dialnet y Pubmed de artículos científicos publicados durante el periodo 2012 -2017, según criterios de inclusión. Resultados: Una vez analizados los 21 artículos, se constata la existencia de una gran controversia en la incidencia de burnout entre los profesionales de enfermería de España, tanto en su prevalencia (entre 0 y 67%), como en las unidades donde se presenta con mayor frecuencia o las variables asociadas a éste. Discusión: Algunos autores coinciden en la existencia de variables sociodemográficas e institucionales que favorecen el desarrollo de éste o por el contrario actúan como factor protector. Una vez se sabe cuáles son las variables y factores estresantes que influyen en el desarrollo del SB, algunos autores coinciden en describir el perfil de persona susceptible de padecerlo como una enfermera de entre 35-50 años, casada o con pareja y con hijos. Contratada fija, que cuenta con una alta experiencia en la profesión (entre 16 – 24 años), una antigüedad en la unidad de entre 1 a 6 años y que manifiesta depresión o ha causado baja por esta. Conclusiones: A pesar de la discrepancia entre los valores estadísticos del «SB», éste representa una realidad suficientemente importante para el uso de medidas, tanto en el ámbito institucional, laboral y personal, que contribuyan a incrementar el bienestar de los profesionales y mejorar el ambiente laboral. Paralelamente, esto proporcionará una mejor atención a los usuarios y un mejor funcionamiento de la organización sanitaria. General objective: To approach the BOS reality in the Spanish nursing professional context. Methodology: A systematic literature search was conducted using CINAHL, Cuiden, Dialnet and Pubmed data bases, and selecting articles published between 2012 and 2017, according to the inclusion criteria. Results: Once the 21 articles were analyzed, the existence of a major controversy about the incidence of the BOS among the nursing professionals in Spain is noted. Not only about its prevalence (between a 0 and a 67%) but also about in which units is presented more frequently and which variables are related to this phenomenon. Discussion: Some authors agree with the existence of socio-demographic and institutional factors which encourage the developmen of the Burn Out Syndrome or, on the contrary, act as a suppresor factor. Once the variables and stressing factors that influence the development of the BOS are identified, some authors agree when describing the profile of a person who would be more susceptible to suffer it, such as a nurse between the ages of 35-50, married or in a relationship and who also had children. It's more likeable to happen to a permanently employed nurse, with a high level of experience in the profession (between 16 to 24 years), with a seniority in the same unit of 1 to 6 years and who also has manifested sings of depression or even has taken a leave because of it. Conclusions: In spite of the discrepancy between the data found about the BOS, it represents a reallity important enough to take into account and apply some measures in the institutional field, such as in the labor and personal one, which could contribute to increase the well-being of the profesionals and to improve the work environment. Simultaneously, this would provide quality atention for the users and a better functioning of the health organization. Introducció: La Síndrome de Burnout (*SB), és una resposta a una situació d'estrès laboral crònic, perllongat en el temps, que representa un problema de salut a causa de les conseqüències sobre la integritat física i emocional dels treballadors, deteriorant d'aquesta manera també l'ambient de treball. El personal d'infermeria és un grup vulnerable de sofrir aquesta síndrome pel seu contacte directe amb situacions difícils d'atenció al dolor, la mort o situacions terminals. Objectiu general: Aproximar-se a la realitat del «SB» en el context professional de la infermeria espanyola. Metodologia: Es va realitzar una cerca bibliogràfica sistemàtica en les bases de dades CINAHL, Cuiden, Dialnet i Pubmed d'articles científics publicats durant el període 2012 -2017, segons criteris d'inclusió. Resultats: Una vegada analitzats els 21 articles, es constata l'existència d'una gran controvèrsia en la incidència de burnout entre els professionals d'infermeria d'Espanya, tant en la seva prevalença (entre 0 i 67%), com en les unitats on es presenta amb major freqüència o les variables associades a aquest. Discussió: Alguns autors coincideixen en l'existència de variables sociodemogràfiques i institucionals que afavoreixen el desenvolupament d'aquest o per contra actuen com a factor protector. Una vegada se sap quins són les variables i factors estressants que influeixen en el desenvolupament del «SB», alguns autors coincideixen a descriure el perfil de persona susceptible de patir-ho com una infermera d'entre 35-50 anys, casada o amb parella i amb fills. Contractada fixa, que compta amb una alta experiència en la professió (entre 16 – 24 anys), una antiguitat en la unitat d'entre 1 a 6 anys i que manifesta depressió o ha causat baixa per aquesta. Conclusions: Malgrat la discrepància entre els valors estadístics del «SB», aquest representa una realitat suficientment important per a l'ús de mesures, tant en l'àmbit institucional, laboral i personal, que contribueixin a incrementar el benestar dels professionals i millorar l'ambient laboral. Paral·lelament, això proporcionarà una millor atenció als usuaris i un millor funcionament de l'organització sanitària.
