    Abstract:
The protectionism tries to protect the national product against the foreign competitions and to make that possible, it applies different measures. We also explain the organism in charge, which manages all that measures, which is the WTO (World Trade Organisation), and the used indexes and we make emphasis on the costumer basket where we get all the data used in our research. Our main goal is to determinate the amount of money that we spend because of the payment of the different importation taxes. To do that, in our empirical analysis we define all the procedures that we followed to reach the answer to our question. Once we obtain the solution to our goal, we calculate the cost of those importations based on two suppositions that we created. The first one is to determinate the tariff cost in an ambit without trades between the EU and other ones and in the second one we calculate the same cost including a situation where there’s no free trade on intra-community operations. We do our own methodology to explain the research part and we arrive to the conclusion that we pay only a few money because of the importations. We hoped that with the introduced suppositions, the result would be more variable but it’s not like that if we talk about money, but if talk about the percentage, the difference is notable increasing to a 200%
