Abstract:
Childhood cancer has a great impact on the family. After the diagnosis can appear anxiety, depression, stress, frustration, fear, insecurity, sadness, among others, both parents and children. It is necessary to implement interventions adapted to this population that help improve their mental health and prevent future complications. The present work is a documentary and descriptive study through bibliographic review, with the objective of knowing the interventions to improve the psychological well-being of the parents of children with cancer. The bibliographic search was performed in Pubmed, CINAHL, Dialnet, Cuiden, Scopus, Scielo and TDX databases. After the bibliographic search, 15 scientific articles have been selected and analyzed. 916 individuals participated (parents and children with cancer). The interventions carried out were health education program, assistance through videotelephony, psycho-education program, group discussion, cognitive-behavioral therapy, digital history carried out by children with cancer, active music intervention, Internet-based self-help program, program of initial advice and Mhealth APP. As nursing professionals, it is very important to detect the problems that appear due to the disease in the parents of children with cancer and to provide or strengthen the coping tools to combat negative emotions. Studies on the subject are very scarce, which has been a limitation in the study. It would be very useful to continue investigating since childhood cancer is one of the second causes of death in Spain in children
