Influence of the economic crisis on the alimentation of the child and youth population in Spain

Abstract:
Abstract in English This work aims to know the extent of influence of the economic crisis initiated in 2008 in Spain on the alimentation of the child and youth population, and if it may be related to the causes of the overweight and obesity in infancy and adolescence. A revise of publications has been carried out regarding the socioeconomic situation, the quality of the alimentation, the food consume and the incidence and prevalence of overweight and obesity in nowadays population. Moreover, an in-depth study has been executed in regards of the eating habits of a family formed by an adult and a teenager. It is concluded according to the FOESSA report and the MAGRAMA reports that it’s been increased the number of families with reduced or null economical incomes which use as a coping strategy the decline in expenses and alimentation, for they consume cheaper foods and of a lesser nutritional quality. According to the OMS and the SEP it is proven the increasing tendency of obesity in the population.
