Abstract:
Design and dimensioning of an articulated mechanical system, driven by an electric motor. The system is at the service of passengers to facilitate their passage between the platform and the carriage, and vice versa, in those cases where the height of the lower floor of the stationary train exceeds the maximum standardised distance from the platform level. It consists of a retractable mobile system based on four-bar linkage, so that it is stretched when the train is at a standstill, thus allowing the opening of the access doors, and retracts, forming part of the train's side profile, once the order to start the train is generated. The main characteristic of this mechanism is that in the unfolded position, it is in a locked position, a dead point, so that, without any extra energy input, it can support the loads generated by the passengers. Systems of a similar type are currently in use, especially pneumatic systems, but this project seeks to go a step further, providing the system with electric motorisation, seeking an improvement in the control and operation of the device. All these items based on the regulations to be applied to railway material, studying the most suitable mechanical system to comply with the requirements of the regulations, requirements generally in terms of dimensions, stresses, and safety, to analyse and design the system and thus guarantee the correct operation of the equipment. The requirements are not only considered to ensure the correct functioning of the equipment, but there are also relevant to adapt the system to the dimensions of the railway systems, to work with the appropriate and indicated stresses and, above all, to ensure the safety of the users when the step is opened, retracted or in any of the two extreme positions.
