    Abstract:
    This study refers to a study of labour relations in Portugal, in the theoretical context of the tendency to convergence or divergence of industrial relations in the European Union. First of all the political and economic aspects of Portugal are introduced during the last century. Then, after the exposure of the theoretical framework of models of industrial relations in Europe and social stakeholders and within the framework of economic globalization, explores the current state of labour relations in Portugal, with the analysis of the aspects below: analysis of social actors as well as their background and characteristics of organization; analysis of the institutional environment and its evolution in the last century; analysis of the current economic environment and labour market, deepening in the last stage of economic crisis; analysis of the main labour market indicators such as rates of employment, unemployment, trade union density and Union representation in the company; analysis of the evolution of labor disputes and strikes; salient features of collective bargaining; and finally the social concertation and enumeration of the main agreements.
