    Abstract:
Minimalist footwear mimics the natural movement of the foot through a thin sole, flexibility, and low weight. Its transition should be gradual to avoid injuries. This type of footwear can influence the footstrike pattern, promoting a forefoot contact that reduces impact and improves biomechanical efficiency. A systematic review of 9 recent studies has been conducted to analyze this influence. Despite methodological and follow-up limitations, the results suggest that a well-guided transition to minimalist footwear can improve performance and decrease the risk of injuries in runners.
