    Abstract:
Alzheimer disease is a neurodegenerative disease and the leading cause of dementia above the age of 65 years. Unfortunately, a cure for the condition is not known but is a growing interest in dietary patterns and nutrients as potential modifiable risk factors. In fact, the Mediterranean Diet has been shown to exert positive effects on risk for Alzheimer Disease and cognitive functions during aging. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the recent findings about Resveratrol and Omega-3 fatty acids —two of the main components of Mediterranean Diet— and their impact on Alzheimer Disease, focusing on the possible mechanisms involved.
