    Abstract:
This study analyzes the phenomenon of quiet quitting, an increasingly visible workplace attitude, especially among Generation Z. It is defined as the conscious decision to fulfill only the basic responsibilities of a job without taking on extra tasks, as a way to protect personal well-being in the face of demotivating work environments that lack proper recognition (Formica y Sfodera, 2022; Cheyett, 2023). The main objective of this study has been to understand the causes and consequences of quiet quitting, analyzing whether it is a reaction to unfair working conditions or a reflection of a deeper cultural shift in how work is perceived. A mixed-methods approach was used, including interviews with employees and employers, and a survey targeting young workers. Findings reveal a clear disconnect between organizational expectations and the evolving priorities of the workforce. Factors such as lack of recognition, limited growth opportunities, rigid organizational structures, and low wages emerged as key triggers. Furthermore, it was found that employee engagement weakens when there is no perceived reciprocity from the organization.
