A Critical Analysis of the Selection Process in the Mossos d'Esquadra Entrance Examinations from a Human Resources Perspective: Competency Assessment and Alignment with the Police Profile.

    Abstract:
    This final degree project aims to analyze the personnel selection process in the Mossos d'Esquadra force from the perspective of Human Resources. In particular, the adequacy of this process for the evaluation of the key competencies of the modern police profile will be studied. To achieve this objective, a review of national and international scientific literature on selection in police forces is carried out, in order to compare the methodologies used and assess whether the current opposition model favors the incorporation of candidates with the necessary competencies for an effective and ethical police exercise. The practical part consists of a comparative analysis of the selection process of the Mossos d'Esquadra with other police forces such as the national, Swedish police and Scottish police, complemented by questionnaires to candidates and agents of the Mossos d'Esquadra force. To achieve the established objectives, this work uses a methodology that combines a review of scientific articles on the personnel selection process in police forces and a comparative of the different methodologies used in various countries. In addition, data is collected from questionnaires administered to candidates and officers of the Mossos d'Esquadra force.
