Relationship between perfectionism and academic procrastination in university students

    Abstract:
    Maladaptive perfectionism and academic procrastination are two frequent phenomena in the university population that have been related to emotional and academic difficulties. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between both variables and explore the possible role of emotional regulation strategies. The sample consisted of 54 university students. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between perfectionistic discrepancy and academic procrastination (r = .516, p < .001). However, no significant relationships were observed with the emotional regulation strategies analyzed.
