    Abstract:
The present study analyzes the relationship between dysfunctional beliefs about sleep and the severity of insomnia in adults. Using a quantitative, cross-sectional, correlational design, 102 participants were assessed with the DBAS-16 and the Insomnia Severity Index. The instruments showed good internal reliability. The results indicated a positive and significant correlation between both variables, suggesting that more dysfunctional beliefs are associated with greater perceived severity of insomnia. Although it does not allow establishing causality, the study reinforces the importance of cognitive-emotional processes in the maintenance of insomnia.
