Comparison of protein supplements and their effects on sarcopenic obesity after bariatric surgery

    Abstract:
    The main objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of different types of protein supplementation on the lean mass of obese patients undergoing BC. Prospective, intervention study, including 60 patients, divided into 3 groups matched by age, gender and BMI prior to CB. One group received protein supplementation based on complex proteins, another group with HMB and another group based on peptides. Patients who consumed the peptide protein had greater weight loss, although the percentage of lean mass loss in relation to total weight lost was significantly lower.
