Title in different languages: Implementing a Digital Corpus to Improve the Writing Performance of Batxillerat Students in the English as a Foreign Language Classroom
Abstract: Despite the widespread use of digital tools for learning, corpora remain underutilized and few studies have explored their use in pre-tertiary English as a Foreign Language lessons. This study examines the implementation of the SkELL corpus in a 1st of Batxillerat class, comparing an experimental group (EG) using SkELL with a control group (CG). Pre- and post-tests and final essays measured effectiveness. While both groups improved, the CG outperformed the EG. Results suggest prior knowledge influenced outcomes more than corpus use, highlighting challenges in integrating corpora into secondary education.
