Enteroendocrinal bioactivity of a protein extract

    Abstract:
This study evaluated the enteroendocrine bioactivity of a protein extract using ex vivo and in vivo models. The extract modulated the secretion of intestinal hormones such as ghrelin, GLP-1, PYY, and GIP, particularly in the colon and jejunum. In cafeteria diet-induced obese rats, the 1X treatment slightly reduced weight gain and food intake, while 20X had no effect. Although the extract stimulated anorexigenic hormones, its in vivo impact was mild and not dose-dependent, suggesting other mechanisms may be involved. Further research is needed to explore protein-derived bioactive compounds as potential metabolic modulators.
