Abstract:
Maternal nutrition during early life is a key factor in fetal programming, with lasting effects on offspring metabolic health. This study evaluated the impact of a maternal diet enriched in fiber and polyphenols, administered at different perinatal stages, on the lipid metabolism of the mothers and their offspring, at weaning and adulthood. While total lipid levels remained unchanged, specific differences were found. Some differences were also observed in brown adipose tissue morphology and adipose tissues gene expression. These findings suggest that maternal intake of fiber and polyphenols can shape offspring lipid metabolism, supporting early nutritional strategies to improve long-term health.
